The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was written by Mark Twain in 1876 and reflects the language, attitudes, and cultural perspectives of its time. This production remains faithful to the spirit of the original story while recognizing that some depictions and terminology—particularly surrounding the character of Injun Joe—are outdated and may be hurtful today.
At Storyteller Theatre, we believe classic stories are most meaningful when experienced with historical context and thoughtful conversation. We present Tom Sawyer as a window into the past while encouraging audiences to reflect on how our understanding of history, representation, and respect for others continues to grow.
Run Time: 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.

SYNOPSIS
Step into the charming river town of St. Petersburg, Missouri, where adventure is always just around the corner. Join the mischievous Tom Sawyer and his loyal friend Huckleberry Finn as they navigate childhood with boundless imagination, daring escapades, and more than a little trouble. From clever schemes and first love to hidden treasure and unexpected danger, Mark Twain's beloved classic celebrates the wonder, courage, and freedom of growing up along the banks of the Mississippi River.
